In 27 states, premiums for businesses would have doubled. Fewer individuals would have had employer sponsored healthcare insurance coverage. Everyone, from individuals to businesses, even states themselves, have felt the pressure of rising healthcare insurance costs.

The new health insurance reform bill means significant change. Millions of people currently without medical insurance coverage will be able to get health insurance. Premiums and out-of pocket costs will be lower. The new system offers health insurance stability, so that regardless of whether you are unemployed, changing jobs or self-employed you will have access to health insurance that is high quality and cost-effective. It is the hope of many that the new health insurance market, also known as the health insurance exchanges will be competitive enough to keep the cost of coverage down.
